Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Informatics Team Leader and Radiology IT Manager, accurately edit and/or transcribe the radiologist(s) dictation for completion of radiology reports to create a permanent medical record for the patients chart.   

Education:
Required: 
High School graduate
Medical transcription certificate OR 3-5 years experience as a medical transcriptionist / medical editor in a hospital environment.

Preferred:
Medical transcription certificate and /or medical terminology

Experience:
Required:
Typing 50 wpm 
1 year medical editing and computer data entry

Preferred:
Radiology transcription / editing experience in a digital environment

Department Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Radiology Informatics Team Leader, transcribe and/or edit the radiologist(s) dictation for completion of radiology reports to create a permanent medical record for the patients chart.  This job requires independent recognition, interpretation, and evaluation of inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in medical dictation for appropriate clarification.  All incomplete reports must be followed up until a final report is issued. Critical results are reported at the direction of the radiologist to the ordering physician in accordance with the JC guideline with proper documentation. This job requires a detail orientated, self motivating individual who can work independently.  Reports must be accurate. Includes specifics as follows:
     Transcribes the actual voice dictation to create a radiology report
     Edit transcribed self-correct documents against actual voice    
     recognition
     Monitor workflow in the PACS system for a backlog of studies to be
     read
     Monitor studies sent for off-site reads
     Copy and paste studies from off-site read websites into the RIS
     Monitor and clean up of unread studies, cancelled orders, double 
     reads and incorrect reports
     Support staff for radiologists, including interception of incoming 
     phone calls
     Help support radiology file room functions, especially on weekends
     monitor radiologist read lists for delayed readings
