The licensed practical nurse is responsible for the direct and/or indirect care of the patient under the supervision of an RN, providing age specific care through the assessment, nursing diagnosis, and treatment of perceived, actual or potential, sudden or urgent, physical or psychological problems that may occur in the jail
Required: Licensed Practical Nurse graduated from an accredited School of Nursing.
BLS (Health Care Provider)
Preferred: ACLS and Erlanger Certified LPN course.
Preferred: Two years nursing experience preferred. Correctional experience preferred.

Required: Current LPN License to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.

The licensed practical nurse is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient, providing age specific care through the ongoing assessment, evaluation and treatment of perceived, actual or potential, sudden or urgent, physical or psychological problems that may occur in the jail setting
Resolution may require minimal care or life-support measures, patient, appropriate referral, and knowledge of legal implications. Under general supervision, identifies and treats medical problems of inmates in the jail setting, provides basic medical care while incarcerated; performs related duties as assigned.
The licensed practical nurse must interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the units policies and procedures.
Knowledge of general nursing principles and clinical assessment skills.
Knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations.
Knowledge of current trends and new developments.
Interpersonal skills which insure effective communication with patients, correctional staff and other members of the health care team.
Knowledge of the medical requirements for the Tennessee Corrections Institute (TCI), the American Correctional Association (ACA), and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) relating to health services
Knowledge of the criminal justice system
