Responsible for all accounting functions to be performed in an auditable fashion for assigned areas. This includes monthly financial reporting and analysis of Research operating results. Preparing materials for internal budget meetings and works with administration to recommend and formulate policy and procedures related to budget process. Assists in improving the efficiency of accounting procedures. This position will work in conjunction with other divisions as well as with representatives of other institutions of higher education, sponsors, attorneys, governmental entities, philanthropic organizations and principal investigators.
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related business field required.
Relevant clinical research and/or hospital finance experience
Minimum of two years of accounting, auditing, or relevant financial experience required.
Relevant financial or hospital accounting experience.

Department Position Summary:
Performs and documents coverage analysis.
Develops, negotiates and executes budgets and contract language
Ensures congruence between budget, contract and consent form for all studies;
Develops detailed internal budgets which have clear and concise instructions to inform post-award finance of appropriate invoicing and distribution of funds. Enters study budgets into CTMS; Maintains CTMS account information relative to AR/AP
Responsible for invoicing, collecting sponsor fees and other invoicing as needed;
Processes invoices, department transfers and patient stipends; ;
Prepares the various grant management financial reports required by granting agencies;
Works with Erlanger Accounting Department to process and record sponsor fees in a timely manner;
Works with Research team (internal and external), Erlanger departments and ancillary groups to ensure procedure and/or professional charges are recorded and paid by the applicable research project;
Monitors spending and close out of projects, follow up with Management when necessary;
Reports on assigned projects on a timely basis ensuring Management is fully cognizant of accounting activities, especially with regard to exceptions and significant adjustments.
Assists in developing departmental budget;
Prepares and distributes weekly and/or monthly management reports as well as year-end and study-end reports;
Recommends improvements to existing systems and assists with implementing new databases or new processes that will improve efficiency and enhance productivity;
Liaison between Research Department and Erlanger Accounting Department;
Participates in special workgroups or committees as needed. Responds to inquiries and requests as needed, assists in special projects, and performs other related duties as assigned.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
