Job Summary:
Serves as the medical executive to provide administrative direction and leadership for the Medical Staff at Erlanger University Hospital. Ensures compliance with external regulatory and professional standards and internal standards of care. Creates and strengthens strong professional relationships with the physicians, the EHS and EUH executive management team and the internal and external community. Responsibilities ~60-75% administrative, ~25-40% clinical.

Required:Board Certification in ABMS-approved Board. Active Tennessee State Medical License. Successful Completion of ACGME-accredited residency program. Ability to obtain Medical Staff membership at EHS.
Required: Three years of progressive healthcare management experience in a hospital or integrated healthcare system. Proven experience and success with development and implementation of performance improvement, accreditation, safety, and outcome programs and driving outcomes with physicians in clinical setting Minimum of seven years clinical/practice experience.
Preferred/Desired Position Qualifications: Masters Degree in Business Administration, Public Health, or Healthcare Administration.

Member of the American Association forPhysician Leadership (formerly American College of Physician Executives)

Department Position Summary:
The EUH Vice President for Medical Affairs will: Serve as a liaison between the EUH Medical Staff and management and represent clinical interests to senior management. Oversee the clinical credentialing process, certification/licensure, clinical/ethical compliance, and Medical Staff Bylaws Initiate, coordinate and assist in ongoing Medical Staff/hospital management projects and activities, including optimization of patient flow. Drive performance and alignment at EUH with organization-wide quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Coordinate a system for patient care review that enables staff Committees/MQICs to monitor physician performance, and the Credentials Committee to maintain appropriate physician privileges for EUH physicians. Develop strong working relationship with Chief Nurse Executive at EUH to align clinical viewpoints and ensure continuous performance improvement in clinical areas. In partnership with Medical Staff leadership, address patient complaints and physician behavioral issues to improve care delivery at EUH. Initiate and lead, in partnership with nursing leadership, Administrative Daily Huddle at EUH. Assist with the implementation of the organizations electronic medical record at EUH and aligned clinics. Supervise the implementation of recommendations made by regulatory accrediting and other agency personnel. Partner with EHS CFO and VP of Case Management to improve utilization review program at EUH. Monitor and promote the efficient use of hospital resources. Coordinate EUH Medical Staff Committee activities. Provide appropriate staff, leadership and guidance for such Medical Staff Committee activities. Oversee and focus the work of EUH paid medical directors and develop specific operational improvements and quality improvement goals for each directors medical focus. Assist with the CME program by identifying the educational needs of the medical staff and other physicians in the referral area and by designing and implementing appropriate educational programs. Work with the EHS ACMO to develop and direct innovative programs for patient care and medical management, such as a medical staff leadership program, to benefit the Medical Staff, the hospital and/or their patients. Assist EMG/Physician Services and the EUH Medical Staff in achieving their short- and long-term objectives by planning and overseeing the implementation of appropriate programs and the medical staff development plan. Represent EHS and EUH to outside agencies when appropriate, including maintaining a working relationship with professional review organizations and responding, with the cooperation of the staff, to such organizations reasonable directives. As requested, assist the EHS CMO, the Chief of Staff and Medical Executive Committee with data collection, investigation and related activities. Serve as ex-officio member of all assignedEUH Medical Staff committees and administrative committees that significantly affect the Medical Staff. Attend appropriate meetings (e.g., Board of Directors, Officers� Council, appropriate Board Committees, Senior Management and Leadership Team, etc.), as requested. Establish mechanisms to ensure participation and/or involvement of the EUH Medical Staff in decisions, directions and policies. Seek and obtain input from the EUH Medical Staff for new programs and directions. Work with the EUH Medical Staff to implement and monitor Joint Commission and CMS regulations.
