Job Title:   Director of Girls Inc. of Lincoln

Supervisor:  Executive Director, Girls Inc. of Omaha



This full-time position is responsible for the overall supervision and management of Girls Inc. of Lincoln and the program partnerships in Lincoln, Nebraska. Girls Inc. of Lincoln, a sister organization to Girls Inc. of Omaha, is a new program to the Lincoln community.

This position will understand and implement Girls Inc. mission, values, goals and policies.

Girls Inc. of Lincoln employees will office out of the YWCA of Lincoln, a key program partner.


  • Bachelor’s degree in non-profit administration, youth development, or related field.
  • Comfortable with the ambiguity that inevitably comes with a start-up project.
  • Experience working with youth. 
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in program management which includes staff supervision and 3-5 years’ experience in urban youth work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of two years’ successful experience developing and managing budgets and financial management.
  • Experience with non-profit friend-raising and fund-raising.
  • Strong knowledge of and love for the Lincoln community.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • An ability to communicate with girls and foster their involvement and participation in program planning, problem solving, and decision making is required.
  • Strong candidate will have the ability to inspire, stimulate, and encourage creativity and innovation.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge and understanding of gender equity issues.
  • Conflict resolution skills to use with girls and coworkers.
  • Must be a qualified driver (pass Girls Inc.’s insurance requirements), submit to a Child Registry check with the State of Nebraska, and pass a background check as required by Nebraska Daycare Licensing.
  • An ability to coach staff, manage scheduling, and create and oversee budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and collaborate with a variety of community partners.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding planning, organizational, and implementation skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proven experience working with diverse backgrounds, cultures and perspectives.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and to help create an environment of mutual respect and support.

Nebraska Daycare Licensing requires:

  • High School Diploma AND A positive reference from a former employer verifying 1500 clock hours of experience in organized activities for young children (youth); or                                                                        
  • College Diploma AND Transcripts indicating 3 credit hours in early childhood education, education, or child/youth development; or                                            
  • High School Diploma AND written department plan by supervisor to obtain 45 clock hours of training in admin, early childhood education, education, or child/youth development in a period to not exceed 6 months from date of hire.



            Must maintain regular and sufficient attendance


Lead the long-term growth opportunities for Girls Inc. of Lincoln and participate in the long-range planning activities that support that growth.

Participate in periodic assessment of own performance, develop own goals and objectives. 

Provide leadership around the visibility and brand identity work of Girls Inc.

Take advantage of training and other developmental/professional growth opportunities as appropriate or as requested.

Attend Girls Inc. national and/or regional functions when appropriate.

Oversee agency fund-raising and PR efforts.

  • Write press releases.
  • Manage social media.
  • Supply program information for grant requests and grant reporting. 
  • Assist with flow of information to girls and their parents.
  • Assist with special events as needed.
  • Assist with taking or assigning photographs of programs.
  • Work closely with Girls Inc. of Omaha grant writer.
  • Attend meetings/coffees/outings with funders and potential funders for Girls Inc. of Lincoln.
  • Support grant reporting with all necessary data, copy, photos and information as requested.
  • Assist with donor acknowledgement as requested.

Attend all required meetings, including meetings on two to four days each month in Omaha and YWCA of Lincoln meetings as necessary and appropriate.

Assist with securing training for all professionals involved with delivering Girls Inc. programming.

Review and evaluate training with a focus on continuous improvement.

Participate in outcomes measurement processes as required.

Ensure all staff delivering Girls Inc. programming have necessary safety trainings (i.e. CPR, first aid, mandated reporting, incident reports, asthma safety, etc…).

     Check e-mail daily.

Work with volunteers as appropriate.


Supervise the Girls Inc. of Lincoln Eureka! Coordinator and, if necessary, program facilitators.


Help develop and monitor critical partner relationships, including serving as the primary liaison between Girls Inc. of Lincoln and the YWCA of Lincoln.

Assist with the creation and implementation of MOU’s with Lincoln program partners.

Assist with annual budget preparation.

Community Outreach

Engage with new community partners to support the growth and expansion of Girls Inc. in Lincoln.

Respond to inquiries from customers and community partners in a timely and professional manner.

Serve as a resource for girls and an advocate for girls’ rights.

Serve on community committees and/or advisory boards as appropriate.

Assist with the recruitment of girls as appropriate and necessary.

Serve as an administrative and strategic support for an advisory board for the Girls Inc. of Lincoln.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

         Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to travel to and from various locations in the community and must be able to travel to and from Omaha two to four times per month.

Schedule:      Generally, 40 hours per week.  Occasional weekends and/or evenings. This position is exempt from overtime.
