Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

Job Purpose

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for engineering change, bill of material management, facility planning, cost justifications, and logistic processes related to the manufacturing of CLAAS agricultural equipment.

Main Accountabilities and Essential Functions

  • Analyzes, plans, and justifies future assembly operations.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements approved logistical processes.
  • Plans and implements efficiency improvement projects as well as develop and implement assembly fixtures and lifting devices.
  • Provides technical support for COL assembly personnel as required.
  • Interfaces COL Omaha and overseas Technical Groups to jointly plan, organize, and implement global manufacturing strategies.
  • Engineering Change Management:
    • Responsible to identify resolutions of bill of material errors with support of overseas research and development.
    • Conducts engineering change coordination and management of serial number effectivity with appropriate information flow.
  • PBOM Management:
    • Develops and maintains bill of materials in a form supporting manufacturing and logistics requirements.
    • Responsible for the resolution of bill of material errors with ZTD and design engineering departments.
    • Implements approved structure changes in bill of material.
  • Creates and updates routings with standard operating times and material assignments.
  • Adheres to established company values, practices, policies and procedures at all times. Follows and supports compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations and standards.
  • Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location.

Note:  This position includes some domestic and international travel by auto and air; valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history & passport is required.


Additional Functions

  • Implementations of CLAAS companywide goals in assigned areas.
  • Assist in CPDP (CLAAS Product Development Process).
  • SAP process development.
  • Plans and implements efficiency improvement projects.
  • Support of supplier operations.
  • Conducts periodic time studies and creates of Standard Work Instructions, as needed.
  • Responsible for the implementation and oversight of containerization with external vendors and support external vendor logistic processes.
  • Creates plant layouts utilizing AutoCad.
  • Other tasks as assigned or required by management.


    Educational/Training Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent.

    Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years industrial manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Proven strong Project Management skills.
  • Ability to carry out detailed analysis using Excel and SAP data output.
  • Farm background and experience working with external vendors desirable.
  • Excellent proven problem analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Data experience: Standards and prints.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong command of the English language.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and handle a high volume workload in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
