Job Description

The cost accountant position will be responsible for the ongoing analysis of manufacturing constraints, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The cost accountant must monitor manufacturing and inventory variances.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop inventory analysis reports and analyze variances
  • Assist in the improvement of internal controls related to inventory
  • Verify accurate standard costs, bills of materials and report inaccuracies
  • Maintain the Product Management and Einstein databases
    • Create new items, maintain active items, inactivate obsolete items
    • Maintain customer pricing
  • Conduct monthly resin inventory counts, investigate variances and resolve issues
  • Monitor the daily sync report and investigate/resolve any large variances
  • Monitor the zero cost report and create cost tiers in MAS500
  • Conduct a weekly absorption analysis
  • Manage and maintain inventory disposition requests and monitor inventory for obsolescence
  • Assist with month end close
  • Complete quarterly government surveys
  • Assist with preparation of annual budget and forecast projected spending and operational variances for financial reporting purposes
  • Reports
  • Special cost savings projects as required
  • Reports food safety concerns to management
  • Other duties as assigned

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to understand how multiple systems work together.
  • Upholds and supports organizational goals and values.
  • Take the initiative to ask for and offer help when needed.
  • Must be hands on and able to think outside of the box.

 

 

EDUCATION & QULIFICATIONS:

  • B.S./B.A. in Finance and/or Accounting
  • A minimum of four years of  experience as an Inventory/Cost  Accountant
  • Flexible and able to work hours needed to meet project deadlines
  • Good analytical skills, ability to work independently
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft suite and MAS500 a plus.
