Position Summary:                                                                       

Under general supervision, the Intern, Information Technology – Help Desk provides support to departments and end-users in their daily and regular business operations.  Trains with other System Administrators during the implementation of solutions to meet identified business needs, including deploying assets, software, and other IT solutions.  Participates as a contributor in IT related projects or initiatives outside of his/her direct area of responsibility.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Currently enrolled or recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. Basic knowledge of one or more functional areas, to include but not limited to, desktop support, customer service and asset inventory.
  3. Basic technical knowledge in one or more areas of IT, to include but not limited to, Windows 7/10, Office 365, iOS, and desktop deployments.
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to communicate business user needs to technical staff.
  6. Ability to focus on business solutions and results first before technology.
  7. Ability to listen, comprehend, and effectively document business user needs.
  8. Capable of organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks and requests.
  9. Ability to successfully meet deadlines.
  10. Work occurs in a normal business environment; however, some overtime may be required.

Specific Responsibilities:

In order to effectively contribute to the objectives of the District, the Intern, Information Technology – Help Desk is accountable and responsible to:

  1. Assist with imaging, setup and deployment of desktop and laptop computers.
  2. Assist with installation and setup of personal computer (PC) peripherals.
  3. Assist with movement and tracking of PC related hardware.
  4. Assist with PC software installation, including Microsoft applications, shrink-wrapped applications, development tools and internal applications.
  5. Assist with first tier technical support for multiple products to internal associates.
  6. Support, troubleshooting, repair or replacement of PC hardware and related peripherals.
  7. Support, troubleshooting and remediation of software related issues.
  8. Tracking computer related equipment from an asset management perspective.
  9. Utilize the asset management software and supporting hardware to ensure accuracy and completeness of computer related equipment inventory.
  10. Provide quality customer service when interacting with all associates.
  11. Develop and improve strong customer service, communication and technical skills.
  12. Understand and comply with all pertinent District Safety Standards.
