Director of Accounting Overview:

Responsible for the management, processing and reconciliation of general ledger systems and oversight of both fleet and purchasing management. Other responsibilities include the development and maintenance of accounting department manuals, and preparation and enhancement of integrated systems applications. Provides supervision to staff.

Responsibilities:


* Hiring, training and supervision of direct reports.
* Preparation of reconciliations for various payable, receivable, prepaid and investment accounts.
* Manage month end and year end closing process, including review and approval of agency journal entries, preparation, posting, and allocation of monthly recurring journal entries.
* Review monthly reconciliations and communicate with VP of Accounting and Finance Directors regarding unreconciled items.
* Analyze property and vehicle claims loss exposure and recommend strategies for controlling risk.
* Establish and implement accounting policy, procedures and controls.
* Manage annual audit schedules.






* Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting.
* CPA or MBA required.
* Minimum of five years of experience in accounting with general ledger experience, including demonstrated leadership experience.
