The Kitchen Coordinator position is responsible for preparing / serving meals and maintaining and cleaning kitchen areas for children enrolled in the Program. Also, this position is responsible for assisting with implementing and supervision of children's activities which may include toddlers and/or preschool age children. This position works cooperatively with parents, other Westside Early Childhood staff members and school professionals to maintain a safe and educational environment

Starting Wage: $12.39/hour

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be of good moral character
  • experience in food handling

Duties and responsibilities of position include:

  • Assists in the kitchen area prior to, during and after meals are served to children.
  • Assists in maintaining kitchen work areas and keeping equipment, utensils and food plates clean, sanitary and orderly (per Health Department and DHHS guidelines).
  • Assists in cleaning kitchen equipment, food storage / supply areas according to the facility schedule.
  • Uses commercial dishwasher and other standard kitchen equipment; de-lime dishwasher on an assigned schedule.
  • Follow planned menu and prepare toddler and preschool breakfast / lunch
  • Ensure refrigerators are clean and all food is dated (if opened).
  • Serve all food at proper temperatures while following all food safety requirements
  • Assisting in implementing educational and recreational activities in a safe classroom environment
  • Working cooperatively with parents, staff and school professionals to maintain a safe educational environment
