Director of Information Security at Hallmark Cards, Inc. in Kansas City, MO

The Director of Information Security reports to the Vice President of Information Security and is responsible for working within Hallmark implementing and managing security policies, processes, and standards to establish acceptable levels of risk, and proactively reduce the potential for security incidents.  The Director of Information Security works closely with application and infrastructure partners to integrate security controls within applications and architectures. The Director leads a team of architects, engineers, and analysts who are responsible for conducting security assessments, implementing and managing security controls, and supporting the day to day information security operations for Hallmark's global businesses.  

Additional key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the development of control services for the Hallmark enterprise including subsidiary organizations
  • Establish, communicate, and build alignment for information security standards across the Hallmark enterprise
  • Facilitate incident response and investigations
  • Provide technical direction in relation to Hallmark information security policies and standards
  • Collects and reports metrics and key performance indicators to support information security maturity models and roadmaps
  • Manage the security assessment process for vendors, projects, and applications
  • Ensure appropriate security measures are in place to support the Hallmark businesses
  • Ensure third party governance mechanisms are in place to assure compliance with Hallmark security policies and standards
  • Implementation of key information security projects and initiatives
  • Oversee and manage Hallmark's PCI compliance activities
  • Manage the Hallmark vulnerability management program

Hallmarks information security team is accountable for the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Hallmark systems, data, and services across the Hallmark portfolio.  Hallmark's businesses rely on our information security division as a trusted partner in balancing risk while supporting a diverse portfolio of business requirements.

  • Bachelors degree
  • 10+ years of progressive information technology experience
  • 5+ years experience in a dedicated information security role
  • 5+ years experience in a people leadership role


  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred
  • CISSP certification
  • Security Certifications: GSEC, CISA, CISM
  • Technical Certifications: MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, CCNP
  • Knowledge and experience of information security technologies and vendors (firewalls, intrusion prevention, vulnerability assessment/management, web and application development, security event monitoring)
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization
