Scope/Purpose

A new part-time position in the organization, the Director of Development will have the opportunity to build the development function and grow the funding base by funding sources and dollars. The Director of Development advances the Mission of CAF through the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to raise funds from individual and corporate sources, government grants and foundation donors. The successful candidate will be well known and respected in the community, have experience with previously demonstrated success in a fast-paced environment in development with a desire to move from full time to part-time and have numerous established foundation connections within the Omaha area. The Director of Development participates with the Leadership Team and assists in the agencies vision and strategic plan, striving to make connections between the agency and the larger community whenever possible to contribute to the agency’s ongoing fundraising efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute CAF’s annual fund development plan
  • Write, apply and manage grants process
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with donors
  • Secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations and responsible for meeting fundraising goals to include research and pursuit of foundation and government grants
  • Create and execute a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual individual donors
  • Develop and track proposals and reports for all Foundation fundraising
  • Prepare regular reports on progress, budgets, receipts and expenditures related to the management of corporate partnership activities and, when appropriate, present to CAF Board of Directors.

 

Complexity and Diversity of Work

Work involves a wide variety of activities, from strategizing and planning, to implementation. Director of Development will be a primary representative of the Foundation and a key liaison with the community. This position has frequent contact with corporate sponsors, Board members, community leaders and heads of charitable and business organizations throughout the state.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in development
  • Solid knowledge of non-profit operations and financial statements
  • Strong networking skills and experience working with the Omaha business/corporate community
  • Proven approach to relationship building and stewardship
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Negotiation skills and experience a plus
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial and communication skills
  • Knowledge of donor tracking software preferred

Compensation

This position pays commensurate with experience.   Anticipated salary range for 20-25 hours a week is $37,500/annual equivalent to $75,000 year for full time.
