Purpose of Job:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assists physicians in daily activities such as preparing patients for examination, phlebotomy, injections, medication proposals, phone triage, and handling prescription renewals/inquiries.  Precision and accuracy in maintaining detailed reports is important in relaying information to the doctors or to the patients. 

Clinic Nurse Supervisor Job Summary 

• Direct, plan, and coordinate the clinical operations of the clinic.
• Responsible for the education, training, and supervision of clinic medical (LPN,MA, LRT, phlebotomist) personnel, including performance reviews and skill check assessments.
• Maintains the clinic staffing schedule, manages time off requests of clinical staff, and addresses all issues of clinic medical staff coverage.
• Maintains appropriate and effective communication efforts with staff, customers, patientsand providers to promote positive relations at all time. 
• Provide employees with the necessary support and tools to perform their jobs well.
• Maintain an open line of communication for patients, providers, and clinical staff
• Work with clinical staff to solve problems and handle emergencies
• Coordinate employee reviews of clinical staff
• Resolve employee scheduling issues
• Supervise Medical Assistant job assignments
• All Laboratory policies and procedures
• All CLIA lab documentation logs (quality control logs) and other logs.
• Office supply of medication including controlled substances
• Patient samples inventory and log
• Clinic Medical Supply Management (ordering within budget, expired medications)
   

Only nurses will be considered for this position and this supervisor position includes duties of an LPN.  

Miscellaneous Duties:

• OSHA training of all staff 
• Periodic meetings with providers and office manager
• Attends provider meeting to establish MA meeting topics for the General Staff monthly meetings.

Requirements:

Education:

• High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
• Licensed Practical Nurse requires graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Experience:

• Licensed Practical Nurse
• Previous Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at least 1 year direct patient care required
• Phlebotomy experience required.

License/Certifications:

• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License, valid license to work in Nebraska or temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical terminology, diseases, and other illnesses.
• Skill to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks.
• Skill to proficiently type information into the computer to capture or detail information quickly.
• Ability to provide caring patient care services when talking with patients and their family members.
• Ability to critically listen to questions from patients and information from providers to convey information effectively.
• Ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve problems before they occur and avoid bigger problems in the future.
• Ability to problem solve during several daily activities which includes the ability to be flexible.
• Ability to learn and proficiently navigate through computer programs that contain patient information.
• Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with providers, staff and patients required.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions/directions required.
