Job Title: Senior Director of Credit Risk - FinTech

Compensation: The estimated compensation range for this role is listed below. Total compensation for this role consists of a base salary plus the eligibility for bonus and/or other benefits. The starting salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location.

The Job:

Are you a seasoned risk management professional with a passion for fintech and expertise in credit, fraud, and compliance? Do you excel in fast-paced, innovative environments where you can make a significant impact on a growing company? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our organization as the Head of Fintech Risk.

In this role, you will contribute to the growth of our embedded Fintech business by building out and leading our risk management practice across the three key pillars of credit, fraud, and compliance. You will report directly to our CFO and will work closely with our FinTech business leaders, and product, engineering, marketing, legal, and compliance teams to develop and implement risk management strategies that protect our business and safeguard our client's financial data and assets while ensuring regulatory compliance.

What You Will Do:

  • Drafting, advising, and implementing a holistic risk management practice around the company's products and services with a focus on fintech offerings, specifically payments acquiring, banking as a service, and card issuing
  • Articulating credit and fraud policies across all BT financial services applications
  • Developing and owning account origination underwriting policies and procedures fully accounting for credit and fraud exposure adjudication.
  • Productizing credit scoring, credit limit assignments and periodic reevaluations of scores and limits.
  • Setting up, training, and managing Underwriting Operations teams for account origination manual review and EDD.
  • Developing and owning credit and fraud adjudication practice across the entire transaction life-cycle and account life-cycle
  • Setting up, training, and managing Risk Operations teams for Transaction Monitoring operations.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Risk Analytics and Rules Development
  • Responsible for Risk Forecasting, Loss Reserves provisioning calculations, and Risk Operations budgeting
  • Working with the business units to help develop requirements for risk management systems and case management tools
  • Establishing and managing efficiencies across various risk operations teams
  • Responsible for policies and procedures documentation and development for all areas of credit and fraud risk management

Who You Are and What You Need:

  • We are looking for “player-coaches” so someone who is interested in getting their hands dirty and building a “zero to one” risk program from the ground up
  • 5+ years of relevant experience at a bank, credit union, nonbank lender, fintech, and/or regulatory agency or with risk management experience at a financial services company
  • Solid record in credit underwriting, fraud management, transaction risk adjudication and portfolio management for payments services
  • Strong knowledge of control frameworks and the ability to design and evaluate effectiveness of controls embedded within business processes
  • Strong knowledge of Card Acquiring, ACH processing, Card Issuing and Banking-as-a-Service (“BaaS”) concepts and businesses
  • Good technical understanding of the financial services regulatory environment including BaaS, payment processing and card issuance
  • Good knowledge of risk management methodologies applied to digital financial services products
  • Great to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to be the voice of Fintech risk management practices and outcomes to the Company’s Executive team and Board of Directors
  • Strong leadership skills, as you will be building the financial risk and compliance program, and will be expected to influence and educate senior leaders across the Company to ensure sound and consistent implementation of risk management in practice
