Description

This role focuses on one or more specialty drugs and the individual will become the subject matter expert for their assigned program(s). The Pharmacy Technician filling this role becomes the point of contact between Amber Specialty Pharmacy and the manufacturer in regards to program operations and services. They will also interact with various interdepartmental teams at Amber Specialty Pharmacy to ensure program success.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Assumes designated or dedicated contract, product or program duties aligned with position. 

Participates in implementation of new program. Ensures internal teams are aware of new program requirements. Interprets and disseminates key program/product information. 

Provides education/training when modifications are made to the existing program with respect to contract amendments including key information about updates or changes in the assigned product and/or program details. 

Acts as a liaison between Company, Pharma Manufacturer and Pharma Manufacturer partners (e.g., HUB, data aggregator, etc.). 

Collaborates with assigned National Account Manager, Sr. Director of Clinical Operations, Clinical Operations Specialist and applicable internal teams to ensure customer requests are handled in a timely and accurate manner. 

Provides oversight of the contracted program services. Addresses performance improvements, the need for process modifications and resource requirements in support of the program.  

Participates in scheduled calls with Manufacturer and/or HUB as required to review program status and other items applicable to program success.  

Point of contact for case status updates. Triages identified issues or concerns to the appropriate internal team (i.e. Intake/Patient Access/COE/Call Center) for appropriate resolution. 

Establish process to track and analyze all assigned programs to ensure Company meets contracted deliverables and fee for service opportunities. 

Prepares and presents program metrics/performance for Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs). Provides ad hoc reports to manufacturers and HUBs as requested.  

Adheres to all Company policies as indicated in the handbook and directives issued by management. Has reviewed Policy and Procedure manual. 

Responsible to assist with Pharma Program audits and participate in on-site or virtual audits including but not limited to planning and preparation of documents, notification to appropriate team members, proper follow-up documentation required for partner and management of appropriate resolutions, documentation training and implementation of action items from results.

Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic math while analyzing data and generating reports. Ability to efficiently monitor KPIs. Experience with data reporting and creating professional presentations. 

Highest business acumen, credibility with colleagues and communication skills required to represent requirements to cross-functional teams and partner with Manufacturer or other stakeholders. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

Registered/licensed pharmacy technician with national CPhT certification within state-specific guidelines required. 

At least 3 years of prior pharmacy technician duties with specialty pharmacy experience. Must possess an understanding of the prior authorization, exceptions, appeals and insurance process in relation to pharmacy operations. 

Strong knowledge of the specialty pharmacy industry, daily operational workflow, specialty medications and chronic, complex disease states they are used in. 

 

Educational Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred; will consider pharmacy technicians with proven specialty pharmacy expertise. 

 

Licensure and Certification Requirements: 

Current unrestricted state registration/licensure. 

Certification through nationally recognized program upon hire or within state specific guidelines. Maintains continuing educational requirements to keep certification active.
