Amber Pharmacy is a rapidly growing specialty pharmacy serving patients across the country. We serve 500 hospitals, and serve patients from Maine to California. During 2020 we opened 10 new pharmacies to serve patients. Our home is Omaha, Nebraska where we were founded. We are looking for a certified Pharmacy Technician! 

Primary Responsibilities:
1.Operates pharmacy systems and software in order to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and performs other necessary functions on system in accordance with policies and regulations
2.Reviews and researches invalid prescriptions to determine needed information
3.Contacts provider or patient to obtain accurate information to continue processing prescription
4.Triages and resolves issues or concerns relating to invalid prescriptions, unable to take prescriptions, and issues to the appropriate team (i.e. PA, appeals, funding, COB, clinical)
5.Contacts insurance or payer to verify coverage of prescribed medication is within defined perimeters
6.Works with the pharmacist and/or nurse to contact providers and insurance companies to verify prescriptions, overrides and other approvals
7.Enters patient, doctor, insurance and prescription information quickly and accurately into computer system and processes claims for adjudication to determine coverage issues
8.Investigates patient insurance benefits and other supplemental payer information in order to minimize patient out of pocket expenses; advocates on the patients’ behalf to identify and assess reimbursement coverage options for those with insurance
9.Maintains knowledge of Company loss prevention techniques
10.Stays current with industry practices that relate to job responsibilities and applies them to own processes
11.Immediately reports prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedure
12.Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of pharmacist
13.Processes manual claims for third party program prescription services, and performs other clerical duties
14.Follows drug manufacturer REMS program requirements for limited distribution drugs
15.Adheres to company policies as indicated in handbook and directives issued by management. Has reviewed Policy and Procedure manual
16.Focuses on new referrals for new patients and/or specialty therapy changes on existing patients
17.Works closely with Patient Care Pharmacists, Clinical Nurses, and Patient Care Specialists to provide a team approach to onboarding new patients or therapies
18.Acts as a liaison between Company, patients, insurances, Pharma and providers offices via phone, fax, online and e-mail communications
19.Notifies appropriate staff of relevant clinical information gathered during calls to provider or patient that may affect a patient’s disease state, medication regimen, or method of funding
20.Maintains documentation of inbound and outbound calls from patients, caregivers, insurances, providers and Pharma
21.Works cooperatively within assigned Fulfillment Pharmacy Department team to ensure that medication is approved and delivered to patient in safe and timely fashion

Required Qualifications:
HIPAA trained and /or the ability to work with and protect extremely confidential patient and employee information

Educational Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Licensure and Certification Requirements:
Current unrestricted state registration
Certification through nationally recognized program upon hire or within state specific guidelines. Maintains continuing educational requirements to keep certification active
Completes additional state registrations as requested
