The Empowerment Network is a non-profit dedicated to uniting and transforming Omaha.  Step-Up Omaha! is an initiative of the Empowerment Network, in collaboration with the City of Omaha and other community partner agencies.  We serve as a resource for youth and young adults between the ages of 14 and 21 in the area of employment.  Through our summer employment program and year-round initiatives, we work to prepare the future workforce.  We address life skills and basic employment skills through our approach. 




The Youth Career and Life Skills Coach works under the supervision of the Employment Director to create and implement employability skills curriculum.  This role focuses on youth development but also includes interfacing with parents, educators, community partners, and employers.  This position will primarily serve the South Omaha area and requires that the coach be fluent in Spanish. The coach is responsible for meeting one on one with interns to develop individual development plans and recommend goal achieving strategies.  In addition to serving the youth and young adults, a large component of the role will be to execute a plan to increase engagement in South Omaha.  This role is responsible for case management, outreach, recruiting, and providing administrative support for interns during the school year and summer.


Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitate meetings and training sessions
  • Prepare and deliver career focused lessons to youth, young adults and families
  • Facilitating new community partnerships and employer relationships
  • Strengthening the relationship between employers and the Empowerment Network/Step-Up Omaha program
  • Attend community events, meetings and immersion outings
  • Identify new employer worksites
  • Provide recruitment support at community events and schools


  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Possess a valid drivers license
  • Must pass background check and drug testing
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Occasional evenings and weekends


  • BA in human services, education, social behavior, career guidance, counseling, case management or related area.  Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience working with youth.
  • 3 years of experience working with youth development programs
  • Or, any equivalent combination of training and experience specified above.
  • Established relationships in the South Omaha geographic area
