Position Summary

 

This position is responsible for the administration and coordination of corporate support activities related to packaging and label generation, approval and regulatory compliance.  The subject matter expert for all matters related to nutritional labeling (NLEA), principles of nutrition and food science, export, Kosher, and other identity-preserved certifications. 

This role interacts significantly with Sales and Marketing, Product Development, Project Management, and across the Supply Chain to align priorities and plans to execute programs, ensuring the success of business strategic plans.  This role requires cross functional influence to prioritize business initiatives within the current branded and co-packaged product lines.  This position will have documentation ownership as it relates to plant control plans.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

  1. Responsible for maintaining all ingredient specifications and updating for required departments.
  2. Must articulate the future vision of Product Development department
  3. Must participate in establishing direction, processes and goals for the team
  4. With the Regulatory Manager, responsible for administering specific policies for regulatory and suppliers and certain master product registers.
  5. Expected to have superior knowledge of the Genesis software application and to keep ingredients and formulas current.
  6. Expected to have superior knowledge on ERP and formulation software integration for components, scale sheets, and formulas.
  7. Responsible for documentation control for all formulas, scale sheets, and formula traceability sheets and the security of said documents.
  8. Responsible for process and the delivery of ILS and Nutritional copy for approval.
  9. Responsible for auditing Regulatory documents on an annual basis and to provide and adhere to an audit schedule.
  10. Expected to assist customer regulatory teams and sales requests for information.
  11. Responsible for maintaining finished good specification sheets, to publish as required electronically to internal sites, and to make copies for required areas.
  12. Responsible for maintaining plant control plans documentation, including document storage and revisions.
  13. Responsible for maintaining the online ingredient documentation.
  14. Expected to assist with all other assignments as necessary and as directed by the Manager of Regulatory Compliance and Director of Product Development.
  15. Responsible for attending education classes.
  16. Expected to be knowledgeable of the FDA website, regulation changes by the federal government, state, and local government. 
  17. Expected to be a role model for the company culture.

Skills and Experience

 

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the Food Industry in food safety, regulatory and/or quality
  • Understanding of the Food Labeling regulations and processes (FDA)
  • Knowledge of food safety principles and food processing
  • Ability to visibly lead and make decisions in a fast paced, environment
  • Ability to create plans and organizational alignment to execute large, complex programs
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Ability to negotiate cross-functionally
  • Ability to handle complexity, multiple projects and work under tight deadlines

Qualifications

 

  • B.S. in Nutrition, Food Science, Biology or related field of study
  • Manufacturing food safety knowledge preferred
  • SQF knowledge or experience preferred
  • Computer software knowledge in Excel, Word, Outlook, Genesis software
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with internal customers, external suppliers and co-manufacturers
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
