Position Summary

The Parts Room Manager reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.    He/she is responsible for the “health” of the entire parts area.  This includes strict organization, attention to detail, accountability for parts requisition, and diligent tracking of parts inventory.

Duties and Responsibilities

Indicate “Essential Functions” with Asterisk (*)

  • Develops, communicates, enforces and monitors effective Parts Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Creates annual Parts Department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives.
  • Maintains an accurate and effective parts inventory control system that includes a perpetual and/or annual physical inventory and proper counter procedures. 
  • Maintains and adjusts as needed the Min and Max levels.  Removes obsolete parts as needed.
  • Issues parts to others within the organization to ensure timely repairs are made.
  • Enters and Updates parts information in the company’s Cogz and Hippo system.
  • Set parts in “Kits” for PM’s.
  • Monitors Work Orders and assigns parts to the project.
  • Submits all parts warranty and return claims within the required time frame to receive maximum credit.
  • Maximizes use of all order discount programs to achieve stock order goals.  As needed searches for more cost-effective parts from different suppliers.
  • Tests new parts to ensure longevity.
  • Occasionally picks up incoming stock or to pick up and deliver parts to units in other buildings or locations.
  • Requests quotes and PO’s related to plant department needs.
  • On call after hours for critical issues that may come up.
  • Effectively communicates to suppliers and vendors
  • Manages, trains, and assists Parts Room Attendants
  • Organizes and Cleans the Parts Department.
  • The incumbent understands and complies with all food safety policies, procedures and programs as stated in the Company’s Food Safety Manual.
  • Miscellaneous other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Education Required:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in related position required
  • 5 to 7 years’ relevant experience in a food manufacturing company, ideally in the area of Parts, Engineering, Operations, and/or Maintenance.  Ideally leading teams. 
  • Experience with change management and continuous improvement programs
  • Management experience in a technical capacity is required.
  • SAP knowledge along with associated workflows is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Broad exposure to several technical disciplines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).  Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; familiar with Inventory Control systems
  • Proficient with data entry.
  • Customer dedicated and service minded
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and conflicting priorities effectively
  • Demonstrates initiative and has a “can do” mentality
  • Knowledge of business complexity, parts and relevant markets
