POSITION TITLE: Papillion Landing –Child Watch Attendant
REPORTS TO: Program Coordinator – Youth Services
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Under immediate supervision of the Program Coordinator-Youth Services, performs day-to-day drop-in childcare for participants at the Papillion Landing. In addition, periodically supervises the Indoor Playground in the Papillion Recreation Center for compliance control. Assists as needed with youth birthday parties, youth enrichment programs, and youth sport activities.
An incumbent will be required to work varied hours during the week, including evenings and weekends.

Responsible for supervision of children ages 6 months to 10 years of age within the Papillion Landing Child Watch facility.
Provide a safe and creative play atmosphere for children in your care.
Administer appropriate sign in and sign out sheets to track children and families using the Child Watch services.
Communicate effectively with parents and providers on a regular basis.
Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and safety of the child watch facility, equipment and toys.
Correct potential health and safety concerns, or reports to supervisor.
Proper set -up and clean-up of Child Watch and Indoor Play equipment.
Acts as a Mandatory Reporter; reports incidents of child abuse/neglect per Papillion Landing guidelines.
Maintain required records.
Attend scheduled staff meetings.
Performs other duties as directed or as the situation dictates.

Knowledge of the basic developmental stages, needs and safety precautions for children ages 6 months to 10 years of age.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patrons.

Physical ability to perform the duties associated with this position, including lifting children.
Ability to demonstrate a strong work ethic.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:
Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of hire.
Must be 16 years of age at the time of hire AND High school graduation or equivalency or currently attending high school.
Previous volunteer or work experience providing care for infants, toddlers, and children, preferably in a professional setting or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above-described duties.
Must possess and maintain their CPR/First Aid Certification throughout their employment with the City.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work will largely be performed indoors in the Papillion Landing with occasional outdoor activities with the children.
Work required is frequent walking, running, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping, lifting and carrying various supplies, equipment and other materials.
The incumbent may be required to frequently sit or stand for extended periods, talk, hear, and must have the ability to transport themselves to and from various locations throughout the City.
While performing the duties, the incumbent is required to use hands to finger, handle feel or operate objects or supplies and equipment. Hand-eye coordination in necessary to operate various pieces of office and fitness equipment.
Work may occasionally be required in times of dim lighting. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time.
Work requires continuous contact with infants, toddlers and children and requires a great deal of energy, patience and flexibility.
Frequent exposure to childhood illnesses poses slight health hazard.
The noise level is usually moderate and includes frequent interruptions and distractions.
Job stress may include dealing with parents/patron, crowds, uncooperative participants, difficult individuals, exposure to illness and periods of continuous demand.
