DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Health and Human Services, Behavioral Health Division, is accepting applications for a Hospital Administrator. This discretionary position will serve a critical role in assisting with the operations at Norfolk Regional Center. Monday-Friday 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Position will require additional unscheduled hours. 
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
The Hospital Administrator will plan, direct, and coordinate operational programs, policies, objectives, and initiatives for the Norfolk Regional Center under the direction of the Regional Center Chief Executive Officer. Supervise the Clinical Director; Director of Psychology; Director of Nursing; Social Work Director and Admission Coordinator; Facility Maintenance Director; Director of Health Information Management; Dietician; Building Services Director and Risk Manager; and Administrative Assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following job duties:
  • Act on behalf of the Regional Center Chief Executive Officer in absence. Develop plans, organize and administer facility policies and procedures to ensure operational objectives are achieved.
  • Assist in preparing the facility budget and direct and monitor expenditures of department funds.
  • Determine the requests staff, material and equipment needs for the facility.
  • Complete evaluations as scheduled.
  • Assist NRC in survey preparation and with Corrective Plans of Action. Complete reports for Administration, Program Managers, Department of Health and Human Services, and the Governing Body as requested.
  • Chair, direct, and participate in a variety of facility committees. Represent and promote the facility within state government, community groups, federal agencies, surveyors, and public agencies.
  • Confer with facility directors and other agency managers to discuss and solve facility programs and issues that impair effectiveness and efficiency of operations. Communicate with and advise supervisors and staff, exchanging information on facility operations, policies, procedures, initiatives, and objectives.
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of state, federal and quality of care standards and regulations that are applicable to the facility.
  • Complete performance evaluations as scheduled 
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Business, Public or Healthcare Administration or other appropriate discipline and five years of related administrative / managerial experience. Knowledge of the facility's population; principles & practices of institutional programming including educational/vocational training & rehabilitation programs; and security requirements & techniques required.

PREFERRED: Master's Degree in Business, Public or Healthcare Administration or other related field. Knowledge of Health and Human Service Systems organization, programs, services, missions, goals, objectives, rules, administrative regulations, accreditation standards, policies and facility policies and procedures. Knowledge or experience in management principles & knowledge or experience with relevant case law and ability to supervise management staff strongly preferred.

OTHER: Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
