Examples of Work
Design and conduct complex internal audits of Department programs, process, services. Draft complete audit reports that clearly and concisely describe issues identified, implications, and value-added recommendations to improve the effectiveness of internal controls. Perform compliance testing to ensure corrective action plans in response to Single Audit findings are implemented and effective in mitigating the risk of future and repeat audit findings. Determine compliance with federal and state laws, statutes, and regulations. Review plans, policies, laws, regulations, Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) standards to maintain a thorough understanding of the functions administered by the Department. Assist in reviews of financial statements and Single Audits for DHHS subrecipients per federal requirements. Provide guidance on subrecipient monitoring requirements. 


Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in business administration or accounting or the equivalent, at least 24 semester hours of accounting or auditing, and experience conducting financial audits.

PREFERRED: Certified Public Accountant, Certified Information System Auditor, Certified Internal Auditor, and/or Certified Fraud Examiner license. Prior auditing experience is required and prefer experience with the Single Audit Act.

OTHER: Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation. 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of auditing standards through GASB and AICPA is required. Prefer experience with Federal OMB requirements.
