DESCRIPTION:

Whitehall Campus at Lincoln Regional Center (LRC) seeks a nurse who wants an exciting career in the field of psychiatric and mental health nursing. The Whitehall Campus provides the treatment needs of male adolescents who have offended sexually. Whitehall at LRC is a Joint Commission-accredited state psychiatric hospital and is operated by Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Full-Time: $24.642-30.803, Additional pay based on experience. As a full-time permanent employee you will receive excellent benefits that include 156% retirement contribution match, generous shift differentials up to $2.50 per hour, continuing education opportunities and health insurance options. 
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
1. Patient Assessment • Assess patient within eight hours of admission. • Provides on-going assessment of patient physical needs mental status and risk factors. • Completes aims per nursing policy. • Assess need for effectiveness of prn and routine medication. • Assesses crisis situations and need for restrain and seclusion, utilizing least restrictive treatment interventions. 2. Identifies Nursing Diagnosis • Formulates initial plan of care utilizing nursing diagnosis based on assessment of patient needs consistent with nursing service policies and procedures. 3. Develops Plan of Care • Participates in the development of initial care plan and on-going Master Treatment Plan based on individual patient needs. • Collaboratively works with other members of the treatment team in development of the initial Master Treatment Plan within ten day of patient admission. • Collaboratively works with the interdisciplinary treatment team to maintain on-going plan of care throughout patient hospitalization. 4. Implement / Deliver Plan of Care. • Provides and clinically supervises the delivery of patient care and participates in the implementation of therapeutic interventions in the initial nursing care plan and master treatment plan. • Administers medical treatment per nursing policies and standards to meet individual patient needs. • Implements physician orders as prescribed. • Identifies and provides for the on-going educational needs of the patient and family based on nursing assessment per nursing policies and procedures. • Works as part of the treatment team to assess and implement discharge plan from time of admission through discharge. 5. Evaluation • Collects data and evaluates patients response to therapeutic interventions and attainment of goals per individual treatment plans. • Evaluates medication and its efficacy; and possible side effects. • Evaluates patient functioning, including psychiatric symptoms, behaviors, risk factors, and ADL's. 6. Documentation • Documents assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient treatment per nursing policy and procedures. • Completes clinical and administrative forms as defined in policy in an accurate and timely fashion. • Documents patient response to nursing intervention and treatment. 7. Milieu Management • Provides leadership and continually monitors the environment for cleanliness and safety. • Evaluates the affect of the environment on the therapeutic milieu. • Assures Infection Control practices are maintained per hospital policy. • Takes appropriate action to correct / solve safety issues in a timely fashion. • Directs staff during Conflict Management situations and assures follow-through of post-intervention conferences. • Provides clinical leadership over activities of nursing service staff. • Gives direction and feedback as needed to staff, keeping supervisor informed. 8. On Call Nurse • Able to answer staff/youth questions by phone. • Able to arrive on campus with in 1 hour if called due to a crisis or nursing assessment need during your time as the on call. 
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIREMENTS: A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a registered nurse in Nebraska.

PREFERRED: RN Psychiatric Certification

OTHER: Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
