|EXAMPLES OF WORK:|
Conduct administrative hearings on behalf of the DHHS Directors. At these hearings, the parties may be represented by legal counsel, and formal rules of evidence may be applied. Interpret complex state and federal statutes and regulations, consider and weigh evidence, and make independent judgments regarding substantive and procedural aspects of the hearings. Conduct administrative hearings pursuant to the Administrative Procedure Act. Administer oaths, question witnesses, and rule on motions and admissibility of evidence. Analyze evidence and applicable statutes, regulation, and case law to reach proper conclusions. Prepare proposed written order. Consult with decision maker regarding the proposed order.
|QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:|
REQUIREMENTS: Two years experience as an attorney practicing law including preparing cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws and/or administrative policies. Persons in this class must be admitted to the Nebraska Bar.
OTHER: Valid drivers license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
|KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:|
Excellent communication and legal research and writing skills, knowledge of rules of evidence, skill in applying law and evaluating evidence.
