Job Description

Duties

(1) Troubleshoots malfunctioning engines and interrelated propulsion system components, determines degree of disassembly or certification required, repairs or replaces defective components, diagnostic computers and associated hardware. Analyzes malfunctions using schematic and wiring diagrams, blueprints, manufacturers specifications, computer diagnostics data, inspection findings, trending data and aircrew debriefs. Performs engine run operation on installed and uninstalled engines to troubleshoot malfunctions or verify findings. Removes and installs engines and auxiliary power units. Operates, Automated Ground Test Systems (AGETS), trouble-shoots and repairs aircraft jet engines.

(2) Troubleshoots, modifies, repairs, and performs sequential disassembly and assembly of gearboxes and auxiliary power units. Performs evaluations that must be accomplished at critical points in the repair/build-up process using a variety of quality characteristics, consisting of complete systems or components and assemblies that undergo many steps in a repair process and have highly critical tolerances. Performs test cell operation of engine and aircraft run up, analyzes operating parameters, makes final adjustments and verifies that engine is operating within acceptable parameters for safe operation in the aircraft.

Qualifications

Military Membership in the Ohio National Guard is required

  • Minimum Military Grade: A1C (E-3)
  • Maximum Military Grade: SSgt (E-5)
  • Compatible Military 2A6X1
  • Must be a current member of the 180th Fighter Wing

General Experience:
Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements.  Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.

Specialized Experience:(WG-8602-10) In addition to the journeyman level knowledge

1. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. 

2. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. 

3. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series. 

4. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft.

5. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.

 

Requirements

This position is being announced in accordance with state merit promotion procedures and collective bargaining agreement. Wearing of the appropriate military uniform is required while employed in this position. Permanent change of duty station (PCS) funds are not available. 

Successful applicant will be assigned to a compatible military position in an appropriate unit of assignment in the Ohio National Guard.
