Job Description


The primary purpose of this  Air Reserve Technician (ART) Enlisted position is to accomplish a variety of work which determines the units readiness and capability to meet its wartime mission and provide training to assigned unit personnel in the accomplishment of contingency and humanitarian missions and worldwide deployments activities.  Incumbent of this position will perform the following duties:

  • Perform Financial management responsibilities.
  • Oversee monthly preparation of Status of Resources and Training Systems (SORTS) report.  Evaluate and oversee the wartime Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) enlisted specialty training requirements for assigned personnel.
  • Manage the squadrons personnel and information security programs / Restricted Area Badge (RAB) Program.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support of the squadron.  Manage the squadrons Information Management / Information Technology (IM/IT) resources.
  • Function as the subject matter specialist for stage management, crew management and Aeromedical Evacuation Operations Team (AEOT).


You must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or qualifying pay band under other pay systems in the Federal Service which has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities as shown below required to successfully perform the duties of this position. Experience which provides a thorough knowledge of Medical administrative duties to include case management, health care benefits, a general knowledge of clerical procedures, medical terminology, and medical regulations in support of various medical organizations and functions. (To be creditable, specialized experience must meet the above quality level requirements).

The assessment questionnaire is designed to measure your ability in the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):  (1) Knowledge of Medical Service Organization and Functions.  (2) Ability to analyze, determine accuracy of, and maintain medical records or data.  (3) Ability to plan, schedule and coordinate medical administrative activities.  (4) Ability to relate medical regulations, and established procedures to specific cases.  (5) Knowledge of organization, structure, policy, etc.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Masters Degree or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education from an accredited institution leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., in a relevant field or study (e.g. Healthcare Management or Healthcare Administration).  This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of s Medical Administration Specialist and is related to the duties of this position.  If qualifying based on education, a legible copy of your college transcripts identifying Institution name and location, type of degree awarded and date conferred is required. Position may or will require incumbent to:  (1) Incumbents regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.  (2) Must obtain and retain appropriate security clearance for the position.  (3) May be required to work overtime and extended tours of duty to meet special workload demands.  (4) The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements.  (5) Work is primarily sedentary, although some physical effort or exertion may be required.  (6) Work is typically performed in an office environment that is adequately lighted and climate controlled.  (7) This is a drug testing designated position.  Incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
