Job Description


The primary purpose of this Air Reserve Technician (ART) Enlisted position is to  administer and direct the Group Commanders Support Staff functions to ensure day-to-day operations.  Additionally, trains Reservist in the accomplishment of task set forth herein. As such, incumbent of this position will perform the following duties:

  • Plan, organize, and oversee the full complement of activities within Group Commanders Support Staff (CSS).
  • Plan, organize, and execute all Group information management and personnel activities.
  • Manage training programs for administration (3A1X1) and personnel (3S0X1) in accordance with established command guidelines.
  • Serve as the Group point of contact and liaison with the servicing Force Support Squadron on personnel and manpower actions.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations such as briefing, training sessions, and consultations with serviced Commander(s) other staff agencies and functional areas to secure cooperation, resolve controversial matters and convey information.


You must have at least  one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or qualifying pay band under other pay systems in the Federal service which has given you the  particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as shown below required to successfully perform the duties of this position. (To be creditable, specialized experience must meet the above quality level requirements).

(1) Knowledge of administrative and personnel policies and procedures, reserve mission, training methods and programs, rules, guidelines, and instructions. (2) Knowledge of automated systems, personal computers, hardware and software. (3) Ability to analyze data/products.  (4)  Ability to plan, organize and direct the function and staff of an organization; communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals. (5)Knowledge of management principles within personnel systems and the ability to integrate personnel aspects in order to successfully accomplish organizations mission.

Substitution of Education for experience: A Masters or equivalent graduate degree (LL.B. or J.D.) or 2 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education. Position may or will require incumbent to: (1) Incumbents regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. (2) Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance required by the position. (3) May be required to work shift work or uncommon tours of duty with limited/no notice. (4) Positions works in a high stress environment, requiring rapid response decisions.
