Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, troubleshoot, remove, repair, install, certify, test and perform operational checks on the turboprop engines,propellers, and associated propulsion system components.

Qualifications

In order to meet the minimum qualifications for this   AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC, you must meet the following criteria.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 

Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements.  Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

WG-05    Must have at least 6 months of experience using common hand tools in making repetitive mechanical repairs under close supervision. Experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade.

WG-08 Must have at least 12 months of experience or training removing and installing components and accessories with detailed guidance. Experience in following detailed instructions in making minor repairs and modifications to aircraft engines, subassemblies and components.

WG-10 Experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.

KSAs:

Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the KSAs listed below.   Applicants are encouraged to address the KSAs in their application or resume or by submitting a supplemental statement with their application.   Written response to each KSA will ensure that specialized experience criteria is recognized and credited.

1.  Knowledge of mechanical, hydromechanics,electrical, electronic, and pneudraulic principles and systems, that apply toturboprop engines and propellers.

2.  Skill in the interpretation and use of technical orders and manuals, manufacturers specifications, factory engineering bulletins, flow charts/wiring diagrams and other related technical guidance.

3.  Skill in troubleshooting, diagnosing defects, certifying, conducting bench and operational checks, dis assembly, repairing, modifying, testing, cleaning, assembly and installation of turboprop engine and propeller systems, sub-systems and components such the integrated synchro phasing system, reduction gear box, torque meter assembly, fuel scheduling system and electrical components and control assemblies.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:  Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement.
