Duties

Brief Description of Duties: Responsible for the accurate interpretation of numerous manufacturer drawings, specifications, operating instructions, and test procedures, to troubleshoot, calibrate, align and repair a variety of highly complex pieces of powered support equipment. Troubleshoots repairs, adjusts and aligns down-sized powered support equipment. Uses a variety of sophisticated testers, to determine repair requirements. Corrects unusual maintenance problems, by interpreting a variety of technical data. Does circuit analyses, considers integrated circuit relationships, and applies electronic principles in order to fault isolate and repair the various digital devices contained in highly complex powered support equipment. Performs inspections, preventive maintenance, servicing, repair, and adjustments on complex rotary diesel engines. Must independently determine work sequences, specifications, and special procedures to be used to fault-isolate and repair unusual problems in various pieces of powered support equipment. Performs intermediate-level maintenance on powered support equipment and non-powered AGE. Diagnoses gas turbine malfunctions.   Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, modifies and operates aerospace ground equipment.   Performs required TCTOs and other modifications on powered support equipment. Performs corrosion control duties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least Eighteen (18) months of specialized experience of removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories.  Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments.  Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships.  Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.

MINIMUM MILITARY RANK: E-4/SrA

Maximum Military Rank: E-6/TSgt

The National Guards full-time support program requires that all military technicians are members of the National Guard and are appointed to full-time positions which correspond to their military assignments. 

Other requirements: For positions requiring a security clearance the applicant must be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state drivers license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
