Duties

This Recent Graduate position provides a learning opportunity to enhance their future goals and improve their knowledge with work experience in a working environment.
Provides assistance on staff assistance and program assessment visits and staff surveys for serviced activities.  Participates in conducting  industrial security visits for on-site visitor groups.  Schedules and assists with conducting recurring surveys for the establishment and maintenance of controlled areas.
Administers elements of the security education program.  Researches and develops educational materials to assist users in implementing security countermeasures.  Assists in evaluating the security education program and provides recommendations and corrective actions as required.  Reviews annual security training requirements of serviced activities.
Assists with maintenance and processing of Security Information Files.  Provides assistance and guidance on security clearance eligibility.  Ensures, with supervision, the applicable inquiries/investigators are conducted for all security violations.  Assists in classification reviews and damage assessments.  Through supervisory channels, notifies appropriate investigative agencies when criminal activity is suspected.  Assist in processing security police incident and OSI reports of investigation. Process Program Access Requests (PAR) for special programs.
Assists, conducts, and monitors conferences, seminars, symposia, exhibits, or other gatherings where classified material will be discussed.  Provides assistance with technical security guidance pertaining to the construction of classified storage vaults, secure rooms, and classified conference rooms.  Assists in providing input to base plans requiring security or law enforcement operations.  Participates in organizational programs and special projects as directed.

Qualifications

You may qualify for the position if you meet the following:

Have completed all degree requirements major or equivalent, or a combination of courses totaling at least 24 semester hours, in a related field of study such as:  Business Management, Communications, Criminal Justice, Cyber Security,  Homeland Security, Intelligence, Law Enforcement,  Commercial law, Security Management and may include: Education, English, Journalism, Psychology, Public Administration and Risk Management.  Have one full year (18 semester hours or equivalent) of graduate level study, or possess a masters or higher degree, e.g., LL.B, J.D., LL.M., Ph.D., in a related field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. 

OPM qualification standard for a GS-07 is one full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement or 1 year of specialized experience at the GS -05 level. Qualifying specialized experience is knowledge of security administration, information, personnel and industrial security programs and directives. OR a combination of the above education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: 

1. Knowledge of Department Of Defense (DoD) and Air Force directives relative to security administration.

2. Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and methods of the Information, Personnel and Industrial security programs.

3. Knowledge and understanding of programs concerned with classifying and declassifying defense information.

4. Ability to recognize employee security awareness needs and implement program to acquaint them with their security responsibilities.

5. Ability to conduct periodic security surveys and inspections of contractor facilities to ensure compliance with security requirements and to advise management of deficiencies and corrective actions needed to meet security requirements. 6. Ability to deal effectively with personnel in presenting the policies, procedures, and methods connected with the Air Force security mission

FOREIGN EDUCATION

 

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.  It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

 

Veterans unable to apply within two years of receiving their degree, due to military service obligation, have six years after degree completion to apply. 

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

1. Mobility is a condition of employment.  The employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement.

2. Travel by regularly scheduled commercial or military conveyance in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations may be required in performance of TDY.

3. This is a drug testing designated position.  The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

4. Position requires a Top Secret clearance. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain this level of clearance.  Temporary changes will be made in duties or work situation to preclude the person from access to classified material or information before completion of the required investigation.

THE POSITION IS A DRUG TESTING POSITION.

 

 ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: The VOW Act Chapter 21 of Title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.), Section 2108a, requires Federal agencies treat active duty service member as veterans, disabled veterans, and preference eligible, when they submit, at the time they apply for a Federal job, a "certification" of active service in lieu of a DD214, assuming the service member is otherwise eligible. A "certification" letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. The service members military service dates are necessary in order to determine whether he or she meets the definition of "veteran" under 5 U.S.C. 2108(1). The "certification" must reflect the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions not later than 120 days after the date of submission. The "certification" must be signed by, or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters and must indicate when your terminal leave will begin (if applicable), your rank, dates of active duty service, the type of discharge and character of service (i.e. honorable). Further, under paragraph (h) of the rule, agencies are required to verify a qualifying separation from military service prior to appointment, through the DD214 or other appropriate documentation. Your preference and/or appointment eligibility will be verified prior to appointment. Active duty members that fail to provide a valid "certification" of service with their initial application will be found "not eligible". Military members may be appointed before the effective date of their military retirement/separation if member is on terminal leave.
