Duties

THIS IS An PERMANENT POSITION

This position is located in an Air National Guard Wing Flying unit and serves as an Aircraft Logistics Officer. The purpose of this position is to plan, schedule, control and direct the use of logistics resources to meet mission requirements. Through subordinate supervisors, directs and supervisee aircraft modification, overhaul, and repair programs that affect highly complex single· or multi-engine military aircraft. Work requires the ability to integrate logistics functions to plan, organize, and implement an Air Force logistics program. In addition, work requires a knowledge of logistics management procedures, capabilities, limitations, and techniques of avionics systems; theory of flight; principles of airframe construction, engines, and aircraft installed systems; and supply, transportation, and POL operation procedures as related to aircraft logistics units.

Qualifications

GENERAL: Experience, education or training involving judgment and/or analytical ability in the logistics field; Experience using computer and automation systems.

Logistics Management Officer, GS-0346-12: Must have 36 months of specialized experience in identifying activities that are involved in logistical support operations; experience integrating the actions of a variety of specialized support activities in order to develop a comprehensive logistics plan; experience monitoring such functions as program planning, resource and fiscal management, training, manpower management, and/or automated data processing to meet the logistics plan and identify delays or problems; experience in working with people from various levels and backgrounds to elicit their cooperation to perform specific tasks, or comply with regulations, laws, or practices; experience in managing the function of the work to be performed; experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The following knowledges, skills, and abilities will be used by the selecting officials to determine the best qualified applicants from which selection will be made: 

 

1.Knowledge of maintenance operations, procedures, and concepts as they are related to remotely piloted aircraft to meet mission requirements.

2.Ability to develop and implement long and short-term plans to effectively utilize personnel, equipment, and aircraft to accomplish vital training and operational mission requirements through supported aircraft maintenance policies and procedures.

3.Skill to supervise personnel, to include human relations skills in motivating and managing personnel and promoting an atmosphere of safety, teamwork and enforcing maintenance discipline, and internal controls.

4.Ability to monitor such functions as program planning, resource and fiscal management, training, manpower management, and/or automated data processing to meet the logistics plan and identify delays or problems.

5.Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies and procedures affecting the programs, to include DoD, AF NGB regulations, procedures, and plans as well as the roles and responsibilities of Aircraft Maintenance and Munitions Management.

6.Ability to direct and coordinate personnel and production functions as related to remotely piloted aircraft maintenance operations and sortie generation and production.

*CREDITING EXPERIENCE:  NATIONAL GUARD SERVICE MAY BE CREDITED AS FULL-TIME EXPERIENCE WHEN EVALUATED AGAINST THE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR A MILITARY TECHNICIAN POSITION.  EXPERIENCE MUST BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE POSITION AND MUST BE DESCRIBED IN THE WORK EXPERIENCE SECTION OF THE APPLICATION AND/OR résumé. THE LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE IS DETERMINED BY THE ACTUAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PERFORMED.  BE DESCRIPTIVE, A SIMPLE LIST OF JOB TITLES AND DATES WILL NOT SUFFICE. 

Conditions of Employment:

Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance.

Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards.

Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives.
