Duties

This position is located at Fort Huachuca (Sierra Vista, AZ) in an Air National Guard Aviation Wing, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Weapons Element. The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated non-supervisory work. Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. Qualifications

APPOINTMENT FACTORS :This position is the Federal/Excepted Civil Service and is open to current members and those eligible for membership in the Arizona Air National Guard. Individual selected will receive a Permanent Appointment after successful completion of a one year trial period. 

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard and be able to qualify for the following AFSC : 2W191

Max Military Grade: E8/SMSgt

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Acceptance of a Federal Excepted technician position of over 179 days in length will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (BONUS). Individual selected will be required to take a pre-employment medical screening which will be paid for by the Agency.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) funds may be authorized if funds are available.

Note: Must have attended or be willing to attend the MQ-9 Weapons Systems FTD.

Note: This position is subject to rotating or night shift work.

Note: THIS IS A UTC TASKED POSITION.

Note: This position is subject to supervise personnel working multiple aircraft types.

QUALIFICATION: Aircraft Ordnance System Mechanic Supervisor, WS-6652-10, E7(P)- E8 and current E8

Specialized Experience:

In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have at least 36 months supervision/management experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE IN THIS POSITION:

1. Able to determine skills, materials and equipment required to do the work and participates in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests.

2. Ability to explain work requirements, methods and procedures and reviews work in progress or on completion.

3. Knowledge of scheduling and approving leave of subordinates as well as setting performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.

4. Ability to implement safety requirements by ensuring that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.

5. Able to prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
