Duties

THIS IS A PERMANENT POSITION 
This position is located in an Air National Guard Aviation Wing, Maintenance Group, Fabrication Flight. This is an Air National Guard (ANG) Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Small Shop Chief (SSC) with the responsibility for the overall shop. The position oversees and directs work of one or more Nondestructive Testers, WG-3705-10, who are assigned to the shop. The incumbent performs the full range of non-supervisory work of the shop.

Qualifications

GENERAL:  Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to set up and operate test equipment, use test apparatus to apply tests to material or products, record readings, observe and record established reactions, and classify according to defined categories.

Non-Destructive Tester WG-3705-11: Must have 18 months of specialized experience or training in using ultrasonic and/or eddy current inspection techniques to observe, measure, and detect discontinuities and flaws. Experience classifying test results, identifying material deficiencies and recommending courses of action for items of equipment; Experience recommending engine components to be inspected and forwarding results to the appropriate authority; Experience performing scheduled inspections of testing equipment ensuring compliance with established technical regulations and procedures

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be used by the selecting officials to determine the best qualified applicants from which selection will be made: 
1. Ability to plan and accomplish a functional shop maintenance program is essential.

2. Ability to correctly analyze findings given the equipment and Technical orders at hand. 

3. Knowledge of TMDE, PCAMS, Equipment Custodian, Supplies Manager, Hazardous Waste Monitor, Hazardous Communication Monitor, Spill Prevention Monitor, FOD Monitor, Radiation Monitor, Technical Order Monitor, Precious Metals Monitor, and Training Monitor

4. Skill in performing the full range of shop work.


*CREDITING EXPERIENCE:  NATIONAL GUARD SERVICE MAY BE CREDITED AS FULL-TIME EXPERIENCE WHEN EVALUATED AGAINST THE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR A MILITARY TECHNICIAN POSITION.  EXPERIENCE MUST BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE POSITION AND MUST BE DESCRIBED IN THE WORK EXPERIENCE SECTION OF THE APPLICATION AND/OR résumé. THE LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE IS DETERMINED BY THE ACTUAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PERFORMED.  BE DESCRIPTIVE, A SIMPLE LIST OF JOB TITLES AND DATES WILL NOT SUFFICE. 

Conditions of Employment:

Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance.

Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards.

Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives.
