Duties

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:  The purpose of this position is to provide ground/airborne navigational instruction to assigned navigators, perform as an aircrew navigator during flying missions, and provide policy, management, and command support for the operational unit. Implements and evaluates unit flying and training policies and programs from any of the following areas: Standard/Evaluation, Weapons and Tactics, Training, Scheduling, Plans, Safety, or Command and Control.  

Qualifications

BASIC ELIGIBILITY FACTORS :  

Document prior experience, education, and training relating to the General and Specialized Experience requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY (KSAs) are no longer basic eligibility factors, but will be used as rating and ranking factors.

 

KSAs: The following knowledge, skills and abilities will be used by the selecting officials to determine the best qualified applicants from which selection will be made: 

1. Knowledge of regulations governing flying operations, training requirements and safety.
2. Ability to work with others in developing and managing training programs which maintains or enhances flying capability.
3. Ability to plan exercises or mission operations.
4. Ability to coordinate with various unit functions to accomplish scheduled flight training.
5.Ability to test and inspect operation of navigation and weapons equipment, etc.  

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience which provided a working knowledge of the navigation systems and navigational instruments of the assigned airframe.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Must possess 36 months experience, education or training that has required you to obtain information on type of mission, weather and intelligence data, and special instructions; experience preparing navigation flight plans; experience that provided a knowledge of proper readings and operations of navigational systems. Experience that shows your ability to test and inspect the operation of compasses, navigation systems, or radio and radar equipment; experience utilizing various navigational methods and aids to accomplish flying missions. Experience computing the effect of various factors during flight to establish present course and project balance of course and ability to train, evaluate and certify proficiency and competency of lower graded personnel AND you must have completed the necessary hours required for your current airframe. (ex. 1000 hours total navigation time which includes 200 hours time in the C-130).

GS-12: Must have experience listed above plus certification as a qualified Navigator Instructor (certification documentation required).

NOTE:  Your application must contain a DETAILED description of both civilian and military experience as it relates to the general and specialized experience requirements.

Substitution of Education of Specialized Experience:

Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position. 

 

PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYISCIAL: A pre-employment physical examination or medical screening may be required for placement to this position.

DIRECT DEPOSIT PARTICIPATION: Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT) program as a condition of employment.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:  Selectee is subject to attaining and maintaining a security clearance as required by the position.
