Duties

Manages unit formal training program by providing duty sections with guidance on all aspects of formal training. Ensures unit(s) has developed a training plan annually, which will include upgrade training for all assigned personnel, and indicate which type of training will be accomplished at each Regularly Scheduled Drill (RSD). Manages the unit OJT program. Recommends areas of training and retraining to unit. Identifies problem areas in unit; determines causes and recommends action in all training programs to improve unit effectiveness. Coordinates with outside training agencies, advisory services and sections conducting training within the unit as required. Ensures all required training records are maintained IAW current directives and local policies. Provides information on civilian education programs (e.g., CCAF, tuition assistance etc.) for interested personnel. Serves as Test Control Officer (TCO) and manage the Test Control Facility (TCF). Ensures that all assigned personnel have completed the Air Force Trainer/Certifier Course. (IAW AFI 36-2201). Manages the ANG ancillary training program. Is the focal point for all Computer Based Training (CBT) programs and Distance Learning (DL) programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

General Experience:
Experiences, education, or training that demonstrated the ability to follow directions and to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures and that otherwise demonstrates the ability to perform or learn to perform the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience:
GS-07 level must have at least 12 months experience that demonstrate the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (Competencies/KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position. Basic knowledge of Army or Air Force vision, values, organization, policy, and mission is mandatory. Some knowledge in training centers, training programs, schools, and units. Have some experiences in conducting or developing education and training programs. Also, have some experiences conducting, supervising, or developing education or training programs. Basic understanding in the Army or Air Force education and training policy requirements. Some experiences in working programs to include developmental education, voluntary education, advanced academic education, promotion testing, and libraries. Knowledge is necessary of audio-visual presentation, educational tests and measurements, and instructing techniques. Knowledge of Army or Air Force education and training programs in regard to their principles, and procedures. Limited experiences in performing interviews and counseling techniques; training techniques and instruction methods; task analysis procedures, learning processes, curriculum development, training evaluations, and education and training systems and products; effective writing skills; editing practices; instructional media application, training reporting, program and curriculum validation, and implementation procedures. Experiences in scheduling training events and facilities; supporting assistance visits and training meetings; or, assisting in work center and individual job qualification standard development; education institution registration requirements; and military personnel classification system and policies. Basic capabilities in communicative interpersonal skill applications and distance learning concepts. Experienced in effective communications. Have some capabilities and experiences in presenting professional courses and briefings; and near proficient capabilities in writing reports and records. Some experiences as a participant and presenter during training and military or civilian conference events.

-- Knowledge of training requirements for ANG personnel.

-- Knowledge of the mission, objectives, terminology, and management practices in the organization to enhance incumbents abilities to counsel current and potential members on various training opportunities.

-- Knowledge of procedures for processing training documents.

-- Ability to work well with customers and other offices on program requirements.

-- Knowledge of Computer Based and Distance Learning programs.

-- Knowledge of Warrior Network operations procedures.

-- Ability to prepare documentation to effect additions, deletions, and changes relating to training requirements when required.

-- Knowledge of training management programs and requirements to ensure customer requests for automated products are satisfied.

Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:

Not Applicable.

Requirements:
-Applicants need not be assigned to the position or possess the AFSC to apply or be considered for selection. Selected applicant must be assigned to a compatible Military position and attain AFSC within 1 year of appointment action.

Other Information

  1. Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service Systems to be employed by the Federal Government.
  2. Military Technicians are ineligible for enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. Acceptance of a Technician position will terminate these incentives.
  3. Military Technicians in the excepted service will wear the appropriate uniform while performing as a Technician.
  4. Veteran's preference does not apply to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709 (f).
  5. All new technicians are subject to a one year trial/probationary period IAW 32 USC 709.

*Baseline physical*

An employment physical may be required within 90 days of employment per OSHA regulation and NGB. This physical will be used to determine fitness and eligibility for continued employment.
