Job Description

Duties

-Utilizes statistical techniques and developing mathematical models in order to define and analyze problems.

-Observes and participates in cost analysis assignments by performing a variety of routine taskings associated with the preparation of system cost analyses.

-Extracts and organizes raw cost data under the supervision of an experienced analyst, and assists other analysts in the collection, development, and implementation of cost-related information.

-Assists with research of considerable scope and complexity for the development of analytical methods and techniques necessary for accurate cost estimates.

-Observes and participates in identifying analytical concepts, methods and techniques, e.g. regression analysis, sensitivity analysis, linear programming, etc. appropriate to systems costing.

-Observes and assists in validating and testing research findings for inclusion in high priority studies and proposals which are often presented to the Defense Acquisition Board (DAB), OSD Cost Analysis Improvement Group (CAIG), Air Force CAIG, and the Secretariat.  

-On a limited level, observes and assists in the analysis of problems related to the development of costing models, data sources, and techniques.

- Participates with senior analysts in the preparation and maintenance of statistical information work sheets, cost data records and related correspondence.

Other duties include gathering and inputting data into computers, drafting portions of and proofing reports and briefings, and assisting in the design of and preparing visual aids.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZEDEXPERIENCE:   One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as knowledge of utilizing statistical techniques and developing mathematical models in order to define and analyze problems; and advising officials of different approaches as a basis for management plans and decisions. 

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).  Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG)Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-07 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate paysystem) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral.
