Duties

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

Maintains and repairs assigned missiles.  Operates, repairs, maintains and calibrates missile test equipment.  Receives, assembles, issues, identifies, inspects and stores conventional aerospace

munitions such as bombs, ammunition, starter cartridges, flares, egress munitions, etc.  Operates Combat Ammunition System (CAS) in accordance with applicable regulations and manuals.  Inspects, maintains, repairs, and reconditions conventional munitions, containers, and munitions maintenance handling equipment (MMHE).  Links and repositions ammunition by operating electrical or manual machines and inspecting for defects such as short or long rounds, corrosion and dented cases, and removes unserviceable rounds.  Performs duties in compliance with established safety, security, and housekeeping regulations.  As required, serves as OJT trainer giving instructions and explaining proper munitions handling methods and procedures.  Prepares for and participates in ORI, IG and UCI inspections, as well as command support exercises.  Performs other duties as assigned.     

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Experience or training which has provided the candidate with the knowledge and application of mechanical and electrical principles and the skill to perform intricate repair and adjustment of hydraulic and pneumatic components and devices.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Experience or training in repairing, rebuilding, modifying and testing a variety of major subassemblies.  Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining repair in major components consisting of numerous assemblies, interrelated electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic assemblies, and components.  Experience in the use of precision measurement equipment.   Experience interpreting and applying a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials.  For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state drivers license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

MILITARY COMPATIBILITY:   Upon selection, individual must be assigned to a compatible military position and must also maintain satisfactory membership in the Minnesota National Guard.

Upon selection, individuals will undergo a background check to validate suitability for employment with the federal government as permitted by law, regulation, Presidential order or other authority. Suitability is dependent upon the particular requirements for security clearance, sensitivity level, and DOD IT network access.  Items checked include, but are not limited to all criminal history record information, employment history, education and fiscal accountability/responsibility.

EVALUATION FACTORS:   Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of appropriate education, experience, training, self-development activities, and special awards. Candidates are considered on the basis of available information on their current application and supporting information that has been provided to this office. To insure full consideration, applicants are urged to submit information about their training, self-development, outside experience, activities and awards. National Guard military (Part-time) service is considered as full-time experience when evaluated against the qualification requirements for a technician position. The applicant is credited with actual number of months the member has been in the National Guard if the experience is related.

REMARKS: No PCS Available.  Selected applicant may be converted to PERM by the MXG/CC without further competition.  Members with rank higher than identified in Key Requirements are eligible to apply, but may be required to take a reduction should they be selected. The military grade of the supervisor must equal or exceed the grade of personnel supervised. Sensitivity Level 2.  

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: ENLISTED (MSgt/E-7 and Below).

Acceptance of a Technician position will result in the termination of your Selected Reserve bonus.

IAW NGR 600-25 AND AFI 36-101, grade inversion within the full-time workforce is not permitted.
