Job Description

The HR and Benefits Assistant carries out responsibilities of the following functional areas:  HR policy and procedures, employee training and development, benefits, compensation, safety, employee relations, and employment.

Supervisory Responsibilities                                              

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Human Resources:

  • Understands all Human Resource policies and procedures ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Ensures job descriptions are updated and in compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training of employees, as directed by the HR Director.
  • Performs necessary background and reference checks on potential new hires.
  • Conducts employee orientations, development and trainings to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Verifies and maintains records of credentialing and licensure of all clinical staff members.
  • Keep records of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
  • Administer the performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.
  • Process employee resignation notices and/or termination notices and related documentation to determine reasons behind the departure.  May assist with exit interviews in HR Director’s absence.
  • Maintains and audits personnel files.

Benefits:

  • Maintains continuing education records for all employees.
  • Maintains FMLA records.
  • Assists in yearly negotiations of various benefit plans.

Accounts Payable/Billing:

  • Manages billing statements and reimbursements associated with Accounts Payable.
  • Processes payable checks within a timeframe assigned for vendor and employee reimbursements.
  • Code and post vendor invoices and other related expenses
  • Track purchase approvals and documentation associated with Accounts Payable

 

Other:

  • Provides HR Director with monthly information (ex. employee training, employee turnover statistics, current job openings, payroll issues, benefit updates, and safety concerns) for Director’s monthly management report.
  • Coordinates building maintenance items.
  • Maintains the HR and Payroll modules of the HR Information System (LWSI).
  • Maintains employee and benefit information in ADP.
  • Must comply with Agency policies and procedures, including those regarding conduct, confidentiality, and recordkeeping.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience                                             

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must be a Nebraska licensed driver with an insurable driving/safety record.
