Vice President of Preconstruction & Estimating Omaha NE

This position is responsible for leading the strategic development and implementation of services that support the complete lifecycle of our clients’ facilities. In a strategic role, the VP-P&E will work with the President, Executive Management, Sector Focused Teams, Internal Departments, and outside resources to deliver our brand promise of providing “solutions that exceed your expectations”. 

Leadership & Vision

  • Provides strategic leadership for emerging models of integrated service delivery driven by the company’s desire to provide holistic services to support our clients.
  • Contributes to the development of strategies, planning, and implementation of integrated solutions that remove barriers and make it easy to do business with our company.
  • Selects, guides and leads staff (maximize effectiveness)
  • Develops cross-training opportunities across departments and clears paths for the long-term development and advancement of our employees leading to increased performance and retention. 
  • Participates in project reviews to continue to build upon our holistic approach to preconstruction and estimating. 

Performance, Profitability & Promotion

  • Collaborates with the President and Executive Management to develop KPI’s and data collection tools leading to the enhanced measurement of performance, establishment of benchmarks, and dashboards for strategic analysis.
  • Measures and maximizes ROI.
  • Provides executive review and approval of all project estimates and bids.
  • Identifies new and maximizes existing service offerings and profit centers.
  • Builds relationships with new clients and strengthens relationships with existing clients while maintaining an active presence in the community and across multiple sectors.   
  • Participates in client pursuits and project interviews as required.
  • Looked to as a trusted advisor for an understanding of the real estate continuum as it pertains to clients and projects.
  • Participates in contract negotiations to mitigate risk and maximize opportunity.
  • Shepherds projects/relationships from award through GMP/Lump Sum Price Proposal ensuring client/project retention.

Systemization

  • Develops communication strategies and a common language to streamline internal and external communication.
  • Develops a standardized/ repeatable preconstruction and estimating program to create consistency of our service offerings to ensure exceptional client experiences. 
  • Leads integration of new, more efficient industry technologies.
  • Develops best practices, forums to share knowledge across the company’s departments, and employs technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Oversees the implementation of strategies including construction cost modeling, overall project budget planning, constructability analysis and reviews, value management and engineering, lifecycle cost analysis, scheduling, and phasing support.
  • Ensures project lifecycle process integrity.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office suite of software (Word & Excel)
  • Knowledge of and proficiency utilizing Sage 300 Estimating or similar software
  • Proven track record of preconstruction and estimating excellence
  • High degree of verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and industry partners
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of employees.
  • Ability to travel 15% of the time to meet with clients, visit project sites, attend necessary public meetings, trade shows or conferences, etc.

Experience:*

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive commercial preconstruction and estimating experience, including leadership of a team, required; 3-5 years of experience in a similar role preferred.

Education & Training:*

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related or relevant field required

*Equivalent education and experience will be considered
