Senior Accountant Omaha NE

This position is responsible for general accounting and internal control including journal entry preparation, inter-company accounting, month-end closing activities, account reconciliation, and reporting. In addition, this position has key financial analysis and project related responsibilities. This position reports to the Controller.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Month-end closing responsibilities ensuring accurate financial results are reported timely per corporate closing calendar.
  • Accounting activities including period maintenance, customer billings, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Maintains controls overall postings and transactions in the general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers, including journal entries, correcting transactions, reconciling monthly reports, etc.
  • Executes monthly close procedures and deliverables
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual external financial statements
  • Establishes, maintains, monitors, and reports expense budgets within corporate financial policies using accounting/budgeting controls, standards, guidelines, and tools supplied by the corporate finance function
  • Works with the leadership team on defining annual and rolling budgets and performs monthly reporting on plan vs. actual
  • Prepares internal management reports for cash flow, job costing, budgeting, estimating, and real estate
  • Provides support to senior management through insightful analysis of key business drivers and reporting period performances of relevant metrics
  • Ensures financial results are accurate and consistent in all areas presented internally and externally
  • Supports ad-hoc financial analysis and monthly reporting requirements as needed
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • In-depth working accounting and finance knowledge (AP, AR, Billings, Job Costing, P&L, Balance Sheet, & Cash Flow) and comfort with standard accounting methods
  • Strong computer aptitude and proficiency with databases and MS Office, including advanced Excel, the ability to build models, and extract data. Advanced knowledge of Access and SQL a plus.
  • In-depth working knowledge and exceptional understanding of budget planning, monitoring, forecasting, and reporting skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present to varying internal and external audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines, changing requirements, and working with limited resources or information
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, self-motivated
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality


  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience required
  • Experience with real estate and/or construction accounting a plus
  • Experience with Sage 300 CRE accounting system a plus

Education & Training:*

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related financial discipline, or equivalent experience required

*Equivalent education and experience will be considered
