The Estimator is responsible for the daily management, coordination and completion of specifics tasks associated with the preconstruction phase of projects.   Excellence in this role is characterized by providing an exceptional experience for our clients while balancing the quality, constructability, scheduling, and budget objectives of the Project Team.  


  • Promote the growth and development of client and designer relationships.
  • Promote the growth and development of subcontractor relationships.
  • Identify and quality new subcontractors and vendors and add them to our subcontractor database.
  • Capture and organize data and develop a working knowledge of unit costs, production rates, system square foot costs and total building square foot costs.
  • Analyze and communicate trends in project costs.
  • Participate in preconstruction strategy meetings.
  • Visit proposed job sites to gather information on existing conditions.
  • Identify potential risk factors and advise the Project Team on ways to mitigate.
  • Ensure that a preliminary construction schedule has been developed for each estimate.
  • Develop conceptual cost estimates for projects in planning and then refine as design progresses.  
  • Ensure that the necessary documents are available to deliver an accurate final estimate.
  • Take the lead on or delegate and manage the internal quantity takeoff process.
  • Prepare detailed, accurate estimates that reflect the requirements of the project.  
  • Assist in the preparation of bid packages, receive bids from subcontractors and vendors, and conduct thorough analysis. 
  • Participate in transfer meetings between operations and integrated services.
  • Visit projects during construction to review the status of the actual performance verses assumptions made during the preconstruction process. 
  • View and observe work to enhance future estimate preparation. 


  • College degree in a construction related curriculum preferred and a minimum of two years of estimating experience required
  • Have a good working knowledge of building design, procurement, and construction processes.
  • Experience utilizing SureTrak or MS Project software.
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office suite of software (Word & Excel)
  • Proficiency utilizing Timberline Estimating software.
