Job Summary

We are looking for a talented, analytical and detail-oriented individual for our Senior Credit Analyst position.

At Core Bank, Credit Analysts are Diligent - They do good work.  No short cuts.  No excuses.

The Senior Credit Analyst supports lending staff by analyzing loan requests of new and current customers.  The Senior Credit Analyst also performs annual reviews of loans, as needed, including conducting credit investigations using all available sources of credit and financial information, including but not limited to, credit bureaus, internal bank information, and the client’s financial statements and tax returns.  The Analyst also reviews, analyzes and recommends loan proposal, with the sponsoring banker, for approval through the respective loan authority, provides credit information and references within appropriate policies and industry practices, and assists lenders by performing collateral inspections as needed. Promotes Core Bank’s credit culture, both internally and externally.

The Senior Credit Analyst's responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing credit requests and making appropriate recommendations to the sponsoring Commercial Lender.
  • Conducting complete credit analysis, analyzing and interpreting all types of credit information including but not limited to balance sheet, income statement, tax returns, and pro formas on existing and prospective customers.
  • Completing spreads of financial statements consisting of internal statements, accountant prepared statements and/or federal income tax returns resulting in key ratio determination for cash flow coverage and collateral coverage.
  • Evaluating financial condition and repayment ability through analysis of routine financial statements and related material.
  • Investigating potential or existing corporate borrowers by utilizing credit reports, internet based searches and any other investigations which are necessary for the review of the credit.
  • Preparing the Loan Memorandum with the help of the Lender  for new and existing loans for presentation to Loan Committee.
  • Providing a written review of the details uncovered while analyzing the financial statements.  This includes providing recommendations and concerns regarding the prospective/present customers.
  • Assessing the value of collateral as a source of repayment for new and existing loans.
  • Preparing written reports with recommendations for structure, terms, pricing, approval, declination, and other related issues.
  • Identifying loan guideline exception and compliance with bank regulations.
  • Making independent assessments of risk rating of the new/existing customer.
  • Maintaining monitoring reports for loans tied to borrowing bases and marketable securities.
  • Attending staff meetings as necessary, including employee training and compliance meetings.
  • Assisting Commercial Lenders in identifying and monitoring deteriorating credit situations, and making recommendations for placement of the Bank’s Watch List. Also responsible for reporting significant findings to the Loan Committee through the review of adverse trends in customer financial conditions, declining value of collateral, frequent delinquency problems, excessive insufficient checks, adverse trade payable information, tax liens, and lawsuit, and adverse industry or local economy trends.
  • Reviewing adequacy of collateral.
  • Performing other duties as requested, including, but not limited to portfolio reviews and annual industry reviews, as required, assisting Commercial Lenders with the preparation of the quarterly Problem Loan Reports, performing site and collateral inspections, providing credit analysis training and understanding of the credit analysis process to the lending staff, attending loan committee and preparing the loan minutes and maintaining the Bank’s Loan Policy and Guidelines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred
  •  5 years of experience in credit analysis and/or lending activities
  • Thorough knowledge of economics, accounting and finance
  • Thorough knowledge of income taxes and global cash flow
  • Thorough knowledge of credit analysis, policy and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and research abilities
