ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SPECIALIST - SUMMARY

Performs highly responsible professional accounting work; activities may include entering accounts payable invoices and expense reports, cash disbursements, and obtaining lien waivers when applicable.  This position is accountable for vendor and subcontractor relations from a financial perspective, which includes direct regular contact with vendors and subcontractors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enter vendor or subcontractor invoices and employee expense reports into accounting system
  • Match vendor or subcontractor invoices to a PO or commitment and obtain approval for payment
  • Verify receipts are attached to expense reports and obtain approval for payment
  • Pay vendor or subcontractor invoices and employee expense reports via check or wire transfer
  • Obtain lien waivers prior to releasing payment on all invoices submitted under a subcontract agreement
  • Assist in maintaining cash flow forecasting schedule

Excellent organization skills required.

Ability to handle simultaneous multiple projects is required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree in Accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Three or more years related office work experience required.

Work experience/education with the following software: Word, Excel, CORE, and Timberline preferred.

Work experience in the construction industry preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

Write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.

Effectively train and present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and vendors.

Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts.

Apply generally accepted principles of accounting.

Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
