Behavioral Support Direct Support Professional


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day care to individuals residing in the home
  • Assist individuals in budgeting funds and shopping
  • Effectively promote, teach and assist individuals with daily living skills
  • Assist individuals in planning and participating in group, social and recreational activities
  • Work along side individuals to ensure the home (inside and out) is clean and orderly
  • Assist and instruct individuals with medications and personal hygiene
  • Complete and maintain required documentation on a web-based system
  • Ensure individuals' needs are met respectfully with dignity and personal choice
  • Assess client level of functioning
  • Monitor progress and compliance with individual service plan
  • Provide a safe living environment to meet the individual needs and enhance the skills of the residence
  • Effectively communicate with the Team
  • Establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • May attend Individual Service Planning meetings (ISP)


  • High school diploma required, CNA preferred.
  • Prefer one year of experience working with the developmentally disabled populations or have a human service field degree or specialized training. 
  • Must have experience with behavioral support and proven experience with de-escalation of behaviors
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Current automobile insurance
  • Ability to drive clients in your personal vehicle
  • No record of abuse or neglect or police record of a felony
  • Must maintain confidentiality and protect individual rights
  • Have proven skills in communication, spoken, written, and listening; observation; problem solving
  • Knowledge of human growth and behavior, time management skills, and understanding of social systems
  • Experience working with behaviors
  • Ability to handle a variety of situations and individuals
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds
