Vocational Specialist- Day Center

Qualifications:  High school diploma required. Preferably with at least one year of experience working with the developmentally disabled populations or have a human service field degree or specialized training. Ability to drive clients in your personal vehicle, have a good driving record, a valid Nebraska driver’s license, and current automobile insurance. No record of abuse or neglect or police record of a felony. Must attend orientation and training. Ability to project a caring and professional manner with co-workers, clients and the general public. Be able to maintain confidentiality and client rights. Have proven skills in communication, spoken,  written, and listening; observation; problem solving. Knowledge of human growth and behavior, time management skills, understanding of social systems, and the ability to handle a variety of situations and individuals. 

 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure Day Center worksites are clean, orderly and safe for all individuals.
  • Assist in the development of program goals and implement plans of care for individuals served.
  • Effectively promote, teach and assist in areas of personal, daily, community living and social skills for individual needs and as indentified in the Individual Service Plan.
  •  Monitor progress and compliance with plan of care.
  •  Document client information on web-based system.
  • Provide a creative environment to meet the individual needs and enhance the skills of the various clients we serve.
  • Effectively communicate with the Team.
  • Assist individuals to plan and participate in group, social and recreational activities.
  • Advocate for and encourge independence for indivduals as outlined in Individual Service Plans.
