Job Summary:

In a career as a Infection Prevention Coordinator , you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will oversee implements and monitor the Boys Town National Research Hospital (BTNRH) Infection Prevention Program and related activities.

Schedule: Full-Time, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM Monday-Friday

Location: Downtown Clinic

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates the Infection Prevention Program and its objectives. Performs an annual assessment and develops action plans from the prior year activities.
  • Collects, prepares, and presents infection prevention information for the Infection Prevention Committee.
  • Collaborates with Medical Director for Infection Prevention and serves as a resource regarding communicable diseases and the implementation of infection control policies and procedures.
  • Collects, analyzes, and disseminates infection prevention data from surveillance activities; prepares statistical data to identify and analyze trends; recommends actions to improve performance.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors compliance with infection prevention policies and procedures through on-site rounding.
  • Directs the development, delivery, and evaluation of orientation, educational programs and/or e-Learnings related to infection prevention.
  • Participates in product review/evaluation in relation to infection prevention/ employee safety standards.
  • Provides oversight of the safety and infection control processes for new construction, renovation, modernization, and general maintenance.
  • Performs and/or oversees daily surveillance for hospital acquired infections, e.g., central line infections, post op surgical infections, ventilator acquired pneumonia.
  • Coordinates activities related to ongoing readiness with The Joint Commission standards, CDC, OSHA regulations and requirements of applicable local, state, federal regulatory agencies.

  • In collaboration with the Nurse Educator, assists with annual competencies related to infection prevention
  • Coordinates the pest management program.
  • Provides back-up coverage for the Employee Health Nurse.
  • Prepares, monitors, and addresses budget variance for assigned budgets.
  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing required.
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in clinic, ambulatory surgical, or hospital setting required.
  • Possess a current valid RN License required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Means of transportation between BTNRH sites required.
