Job Summary: In a career as a Mental Health Technician or also known as the Behavioral Health Technician, you join us in providing life-changing care to youth. The Boys Town Residential Treatment Center (RTC) provides medically directed care for children ages 5-18 who have severe behavioral health problems or mental illness. Behavioral Health Technicians strive to help youth turn their lives around for the better by building relationships with kids, monitoring, and leading by example. A big part of the Boys Town model is to address positive and negative behaviors and work as a team to be great role models.

Schedule: 2:30pm to 11:00pm. Full Time. During week and every other weekends.


  • Provide a safe environment for all youth and staff.

  • Monitor the basic physical needs for the youth.

  • Provide direct care and supervision to an assigned group of youth using the Psycho Educational Model of Treatment (PEM). The basis of PEM is to catch kids being good and reinforce good behavior at a higher rate than bad behavior.

  • Serve as a role model for ethical behavior and promote awareness and moral principles of the Mission, Vision, & Values of Boys Town.

    Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required, some college preferred.

  • Experience working with children preferred.

  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills with the ability to maintain appropriate level of confidentiality.

  • Must be 20 years of age.

  • Must be up to date with all immunizations required by Employee Health including an annual Flu Vaccination.
