Assistant Vice President, Client Services
Job Description Summary:
The University of Nebraska system is seeking an innovative and collaborative technology leader to serve as its assistant vice president (AVP) for client services in the division of Information Technology Services (ITS). Reporting to the University of Nebraska Vice President for Information Technology and CIO, the AVP for client services leads a division of 60 full time employees and 40 part time employees to provide outstanding IT support services aligned to NU and campuses strategic goals.
The AVP for client services is a member of the VP of IT and CIO senior leadership team, working together with AVP colleagues, to set the vision and delivery of next generation technology services to the University of Nebraska. This position leads NU ITS in providing a customer first, next generation technology support experience to NU faculty, staff, and students by leveraging industry best practices and benchmark metrics. This includes implementing and leading a NU ITS IT service management catalog, a unified helpdesk, leveraging scale to increase IT support services, and ensuring high user support satisfaction across NU campuses. Additionally, the AVP will empower endpoint support teams to provide outstanding service to users, while maintaining the core expectations of security requirements. This position will strategically cultivate and grow high performing staff by using career ladders, training, internship programs and student worker development, to build workforce pipeline opportunities within the entire NU ITS division.

Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree that provides the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities, and 7 years of experience in IT management and administration. Demonstrated supervisory experience with large, geographically dispersed, and operationally diverse teams. Demonstrated experience with strong relationship-building and communication qualities throughout career.Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree. Demonstrated business acumen and higher education IT leadership experience.
The ideal candidate for the AVP for client services position will have a collaborative approach to leadership, ensure the client services division integrates closely with all divisions within NU ITS; have a deep understanding of the role and mission of a public university including its values of access, opportunity, and inclusion for all, and will bring an entrepreneur’s approach to positioning the University of Nebraska as a leader through a period of change in higher education. The AVP will be a gifted leader, communicator, and collaborator who can work across a diverse system of campuses, each with a distinct and complementary mission. They will regularly interact with senior leaders and be expected to build strong collaborative relationships with distributed IT staff across the University of Nebraska.
