Family Support Worker Definition
Family Support Service is defined as the provision of face to face assistance, coaching, teaching, role modeling, and the supervision of visits when applicable by a trained professional in the family home or community based setting. Family Support Work promotes family well-being and enhances the protective factors i.e., knowledge of parenting and child development, resilience, social connections, concrete supports, and social and emotional competence. Training for this position is M-W 9am to 3pm or W-F 9am to 3pm. Must be able to do Parenting Time visits while building your Family Support Work case load.
The target population is any adult, child, or juvenile involved with Department of Health and Human Services.
Family Support Worker shall have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, which is preferred, or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
Skills/Qualifications including but not limited to:
• Proficient writing skills and computer skills
• Demonstrates understanding and empathy for others
• Pass a background check (Sexual Offenders Register, DHHS Central Registers for Adult Protective Services/Child Abuse and Neglect and Criminal Background Checks.)
• Pass a drug test upon hire and throughout employment
• Current and valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
