Family Preservation Services Definition
Family preservation services (FPS), like family preservation services, are family-focused, community-based crisis intervention services designed to maintain children safely in their homes and prevent the unnecessary separation of families. FPS are characterized by small caseloads for workers, short duration of services, 24-hour availability of staff, and the provision of services primarily in the family's home or in another environment familiar to the family. They are often offered to families as an alternative to their children's out-of-home placement
Family Support Worker Definition
Family Support Workers/Community Treatment Aides help clients to meet basic needs that can help facilitate the forward progress of their case. They may be assigned to assist clients in accessing community resources (such as employment and housing, rent assistance, treatment programs, transportation, etc), budgeting, scheduling, parenting skills, setting up and attending appointments, etc. FSW/CTA's also provide visitation supervision for clients and their children. During visits between a child / youth and parent, trained staff will teach, coach, and role model with appropriate parenting skills and activities
Parenting Time/Visitation Specialist
Supervises visits between a child / youth and parent which require line of site supervision and in proximity to hear the interactions of the visit by a trained staff who will intervene if child safety is compromised.
Transporting/driving children between their placements (to include foster parents, placement facilieites, schools and day cares when applicable)
Required to take notes to submit for documentation after your session is complete within 24 hours.
A Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Education or another field is required.
Skills/Qualifications including but not limited to:
• Strong writing skills and computer skills
• Demonstrates understanding and empathy for others
• Pass a background check (Sexual Offenders Register, DHHS Central Registers for Adult Protective Services/Child Abuse and Neglect, and all Criminal Background Checks.)
• Pass a drug test upon hire and throughout employment
• Current and valid Drivers License with acceptable driving record
• Maintain and provide copies of current Auto Insurance
